An experience called Ranga Shankara.
This week end was a smash hit.
Firstly cos the plan that was made over a year ago was fruiting.
Waking up to a sunny saturday morning, as i was getting ready to embrace the day, what lingered in my mind was the very catchy caption "There's a lil bit of drama in all of us", the big billboards in bangalore for the past week displayed this.
It was the ad of a theatre fest happening @ RangaShankara. Following which me n stells, reached the venue.
As we made our way to the ticket counter with an hour to spare for the play to commence, lucky were we as the phone booking came to our rescue. While few theatregoer's fretted over their misfortune for not opting for the same.
Excited we were as we bumped into the visionary of Ranga Shankara Mrs. Arundhati Nag her cheerfulness, enthusiasm, generousity - commendable.
As we set to explore this amazing place, came across another play which was being aired. The performers of which were from a college in bangalore, who displayed cool dressing :) & what joy to watch 2 plays @ the cost of 1. On a serious note, the price of the tickets were fine.

Now coming to the ambience of Ranga Shankara: Chilled out is the word tht i wud wanna use. The colorful gaint dolls & the black & white pictures of the yesteryear performers - captivating.
As we ascended to the play area, we were free to choose the seat. The dimly lit stage was suggesting that its here, that the high drama is gonna take place. When many occupied the seats, behold what we saw... It was Mr.Naseerudhin Shah with wife. He looked poised, but the wife was not. I discovered that Mrs.Sarabhai from the Sarabhai V/s Sarabhai soap fame is his wife. Thanking my luck i settled to watch the much awaited play.
Romeo & Juliet in Kannada.
Few of the artists looked familiar & looked & played their part well. It dnt go unnoticed that the striking difference between a movie & a play is that as you know: Plays are real there's nothing extravagant about a play. There's no hype surrounding a play. Its simple and offcourse dramatic.
The musicians were excellent. Am not gonna say anything about the play. 1 has to go & watch it to experience the exuberance. It was 6 in the evening when the play ended.
Hungry we were, so came down to check out the eatery. The mouth watering momo's just vanished from the plate. The tasty Vada paav was something that will take us their again. And the rain simply added to the taste of the tasty chai.
Wow what a day! Free Spirited is what i wanna call it.
